Movie Review 'The Outsiders'

Recently our Third Year students watched the classic 'The Outsiders' movie. Below, they tell us what they think of the movie and whether or not it lived up to expectations!

In my opinion, the film was not the best, however that was likely due to the fact that this film adaptation was clearly made in the 1980s. In other words, don't expect any special effects! It still has held up to the details in the book, however it does skip over a few parts. Luckily, anything that was skipped contained very small details that aren’t necessary to the plot, so I don't think this took away from the overall effect of the movie. The actors of people like Darry and Soda are in my opinion perfect fits for the actors, as they correspond perfectly to what I had imagined  they would look like. I personally enjoyed the book more than the film, as for the book you are given extra details not shown in the movie, and an enjoyable factor about books is a lot of the scenery, point of view, and making out the characters in your head, not just seeing what they look like on screen It was very easy to imagine what the characters in the book looked like as the author gives us such detailed descriptions throughout. Sometimes seeing a film after reading the book can change your interpretations of characters. I'm not that saying the movie adaptation is bad, but the book on its own makes a statement that doesn't need to be seen on screen to be appreciated.. If this was on a rating scale of 1-10, I would give it about a 5-6. It’s not bad, but it isn’t amazing.
